Elizabeth Worley - Author Portrait
“I did not know that in the process I would finally become the woman I had always wanted to be.”
Elizabeth Worley grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. She thrived on the wild forests, mountain vistas, and culture of the region. Then, in the second half of life, she decided she needed a radical change. She traded those familiar mountains for the remote highlands of Panama—seeking adventure, opportunity, and a very different life.

The Journey

Blue Ridge Years

Busy! Raising three children, teaching, writing, building a psychotherapy practice, and working with women’s crisis centers. Very busy!

Italy

For her 50th birthday, Elizabeth traveled alone to Italy. She did not know that the journey would begin a process of self-discovery that would eventually change her life. You can read that story in Risking Everything: Coming Out in Coffee Land, her memoir of a life in process.

Panama

Traded the Blue Ridge for the jungles of Panama—and discovered a very different second act.

2010

Co-founded Cloud Forest Botanicals with Dianne, a small woman-owned business creating herbal tinctures and creams.

2009–2016

Travel became a constant source of inspiration, taking Elizabeth and Dianne through much of Europe, Latin America, China, Australia, and beyond. The sights, sounds, smells, and people they encountered continue to find their way into Elizabeth’s work.

2017

Walked the entire 500-mile Camino de Santiago with Dianne. From France, across the Pyrenees, through the Basque country, sleeping in hostels, mile after mile. Just walking. Changed everything.

2024

Iceland. Did NOT eat fermented shark meat.

2025

Published Chasing Tropical Ice, the first novel in the Chasing series.

2026

Explored the ancient medinas of Morocco and rode a camel into the red dunes of the Sahara.

Today

Still living on the side of a volcano. Still writing. Still traveling. Still looking for the next adventure.

Coming Soon — 2027

Chasing Arctic Fire. In Iceland’s frozen north, Gus and Kaye are drawn into another dangerous web of power, betrayal, and secrets—while the earth itself begins to shift beneath them.
